Introduction to Plant Based Dyes

Gifts Included: One handwoven cotton Luna Zorro towel and one handwoven cotton Luna Zorro scrunchie (per student) to be used for dyeing.
Description: Introduction to the natural dyes ingredients (turmeric and avocado) local to Guatemala. Students assist instructor with preparing natural dyes, dye vats, and materials to be dyed. Walking through the step by step process of dyeing, fixing, and drying. Each student will get to choose which color they will dye their towel and scrunchie (pink hues with avocado or yellow hues with Pericón leaves). Time after the workshop will be available for browsing the Luna Zorro studio space and gardens. Once completed, a specialty packed picnic basket from “La Ferme” (also located on Finca La Azotea) is highly recommended!
Workshop is limited to 6 students only in order to abide by social distance protocol. All materials will be sanitized, hand sanitizer will be provided, and students are required to bring their own face mask to be worn throughout the workshop.
